Don’t ask children to do things, because they will say no. Is that so?

#HowWouldYouRespond? Sahil (my son who is 2 years and nearly 4 months) tried to take a book from shelf. Somehow several books fell down and Sahil was startled by the noise. After waiting for him to recover (some small talk happened) we asked him to help to put the books back because the books were sad to be on the floor. Sahil refused. Some discipline guides say: “Don’t ask children to do things, because they will say no. You should tell them.” What would you do?
